21" Monitor Fried - PICs inside...Can it be repaired?

Hi,

My HP 1110 Trinitron monitor Fried !!! It initially started when monitor would reduce the width and increase the width whenever it wanted to. Then it sometimes turned off by itself , then just before it died....it started flickering like hell and was making a Bzzzz noise , then smoke , burning smell and DEATH !!!

I got some more pics here at the bottom....Do u think this can be fixed ?? is the PCB buggered ?? Know any names in Sydney ??

My trinitron dead Any help appreciated

The fault was caused by a dry joint at the end of the capacitor.

I could be repaired with time but some repair people would not try due to the amount of damage to the PCB and the risk of fire after the repair.

what would the estimated cost be ?? can an inexperienced guy do it ??

If the PIC if fried then you have a problem, it is programmed, that means that it has internal memory , and you need to find the right program for it.
Usually they are programmed in assembler or c++.
To see if this is the problem, repair the PCB first, and see if it monitor works.
If it works and you don’t want to pay for the PIC you could use the monitor like that.
The PIC is for the monitor menu, and If it is damaged you cannot make adjustments to the image, …………………….
