I have an inexpensive monitor (Envision En-710) that is slighty blurry--a little 'ghosting' around the edge of things. However, when I first use the monitor after it has been in 'screensaver' mode for some time, it is sharp as a bell, then gradually goes back again. Any clues?

Your monitor is heating up. The Flyback produces the High Voltage and Focus as well. Or, you have a capacitor degrading in the high-voltage part of your power supply. You might want to get a bit more air flowing behind the monitor, might extend it's life a bit;o)
