DVI adapters

I have a Dell 1704FPV, but no DVI port in my computer. I realize that the 1704FPV can use DVI, and I know the picture is a lot better with it. Is there any way i can make my computer compatible with the DVI? Would it be better to buy, and then install a DVI port, or buy a analog to DVI adapter? Is the picture quality with an adapter as good as an actual port? Thanks

The video quality is only as good as its source, so assuming the graphics card is giving out a good signal and the analogue monitor and its signal cable are in good order then this is as good as you will get.

To get the best out of the DVI converter it really should plug directly into the graphics card without any cable, and the quality will depend largly on the converter.
