I got a replacement for my old monitor yesterday and I have a problem with it - when I first turned it on there was a really big patch of greenish colour in the middle. I discovered if I use the deguass thing, the patch moves, like it will move from where it originally was to the laft hand side and change from the green colour to a blueish colour.
So this made me think maybe there was some magnetic field making it do this - although I cannot think what it could be. My other monitor didn't do this and so I would assume that if it was magnetism, it would have done it with my old monitor also?
Another thing - with my last monitor, when I shut off my comp, the monitor would go into standby, ie the screen would go black but the light went amber and would come back on when I turned comp on.
This monitor, when I turn comp off, it goes blank for all of one second then the screen goes red, then blue, then green and then grey, keeps alternating between these colours.
Is is supposed to do this or what?
I called Relisys back and told them about the the weird colour patches (didn't mention the standby thing coz I hadn't discovered that by then) and they said they will bring me another monitor on Monday.
So does it sound like a faulty monitor or does it sound like what I thought and I may have a magnet thing I don't know about lurking somewhere close by?
