I have a Sharp LCD Monitor (LL-T17A4-B) that when turned on it flashes the image briefly and then the image goes off. It appeares the image is good except it lasts about 1/2 a second and them the images shuts down. Is this a common problem?

Thanks,
Clarence

Hi yes this is a common problem with both laptops and TFT monitors.

Most common problem is either the lamp's or the inverter but it can be caused by the main board.

Hi I have the same model with the exact same issue. But I have found that if i unplug all the lamps but one the image stays on longer. I talked to someone and he mentioned the ballast could be the promblem, But I don't know how to go about testing that. Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

Try to change electrolytic capacitors - they are known to get wet trough the time and their ESR grows. Use LOW-ESR 105°C types (for switching mode power supplies).
