Hi,
my micronpc 900Mx has been over bright with the diagonal lines.
I learned how to fix it for Dell/Sony, but how to find N Meg resistor for control G2 in 900Mx?
Will very appreciated if somebody help find schematic 900Mx or know similar model.
Thanks for advance. Excellent forum!

I just ordered a Horz Output that was shorted.
I guess someone may have exceeded 1600x1200@85?
About 25 bucks and hoping this will correct my
problem without a flyback!

Hi

I too have the same problem and would like to try the resistor fix. I too need know where the correct resistor is located as well.
For anyone unfamilure with what we are talking about, please see http://www.hutzelman.com/web/pages/hardware/Mods/SonyCRT/ for details.
My MicronPC.com 900MX is not the same brand as the one in the pictures and mine is different inside.
Many people have had success changing the resistor to one of a lower value.
Here is a very long thread about the problem.
http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19549
I don't have access to the DAS software or the special cable needed to use it. I just want to try to replace the resistor. I have been unable to locate a schematic for my monitor and have no idea where the resistor is on mine. I did open up the case, but being different then the one in the pictures on the above link, I am stuck.
I have no idea of the voltage on G1 and G2.
Please help if you know of a schematic, a link or can simply tell me exactly where the resistor is on my brand monitor.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Hi again

Would someone please read my post here:
http://www.short-media.com/forum/showpost.php?p=453875&postcount=664
and see if you know what the adjusters I speak of are for.
I am unable to find out anything about these, but I feel sure someone knows exactly what they are and what each one does.

Thanks for any help

Hi all

The Micronpc.com 900MX has an adjusted on the flyback that says SCREEN (at least mine does).
Turn it ever so slightly counter-clockwise (in my case) to bring the brightness down to proper levels. Other models may also have a SCREEN adjuster on the flyback. If so it is a really quick fix, just wait about 20-30 minutes to let the monitor warm up before you adjust it. Also remember to set the brightness in the menu to whatever you want, like 50 or so AFTER you first lower the brightness through the screen adjuster on the flyback. Do the flyback adjustment first, with the menu brightness at or near 0. This should ensure that the monitor doesn't cut itself off from going too bright if you raise the menu brightness first. It has some kind of cut-off feature that is suppose to protect it. You may need to turn it some more once you raise the brightness in the menu. Once you have it set properly, simply put the case back on and enjoy the beautiful picture your monitor should have again.

Simple steps:
1-turn on monitor and let it warm up.
2-set menu brightness to 0
3-turn flyback SCREEN adjuster until the screen is nearly completely dark.
4-turn up brightness in the menu to 50 or more, taking care to not let it get real bright.
5-turn the flyback adjuster some more to get the brightness you want
6-put the cover back on and enjoy.

Please note: This is probably only temporary, as something is wrong to cause the over brightness in the first place. Still it works and should allow you to get some extra life out of it until the real cause is tracked down and made available.

I want to think Xweebie and P991 DELL SONY over at Short-Media for their help.

I hope this helps
