CTX 1785 monitor.

HOT ok, heater working, green light comes on.
180v at C of HOT.(2sc5296)
this monitor has a fet(k1377) and a SG3843M PWM controller
on the other side of the primary of the flyback.
ive measured the voltages at the fet
S = 0v
D = 266v
G = 1.1v

whats the purpose of this fet/controller combination?

This fet controls the effective DC for the EHT stage.

The reason for this is to set the EHT level but also the voltage required at 31.5kHz to produce say 26kV is a lot lower than the voltage required at 85kHz.

There is also one for the line scan circuit.

Q319 is for scan B+
Q330 is for EHT B+

The references may not be exact as the circuit is a poor copy and hard to read.
