This monitor uses the sony G1-W chassis which is the widescreen version of the GPD-G500 which is also rebadged as a Dell P1110 amongst others. Try the colour restore / image restoration in the colour menu and see if that brings it back. If not, the problem can be caused by faulty capacitors in the supply to the video stage particularly if the problem is worse when cold. I have had this problem caused by the power supply board but in that case, the monitor had other problems too - mainly the screen size altering depending on image content. The problems went away after about half an hour but changing the PSU board cured it altogether. Unfortunatley, I didn't manage to trace it to component level.
Of course, a faulty CRT can cause this problem as well but in this case, the image tends to never gets better no matter how long its left to warm up.
I'd recommend reading up on the Dell P1110 posts as a lot of info there will be relevant as you may need to change a resistor in the G2 circuit.
