Hi everybody,
I have a P97 6651 that has an ultra bright display no matter how I set the brightness or contrast.
I can see white lines on the screen corresponding to the return of the electron beam.
I opened the box but could not see anything burnt or suspect.
Anybody can help me ?

Thanx a lot !!!

Hi if this unit has the colour restore option then try this with the brightness set to 50%.

This option if avaliable is only active after 30 minutes running no power save options in windows other wise time starts again.

If this does not cure it you may need to tale it to dealer or do resistor mod in G2 circuit.

Hi,

Thanx foir your fast answer but I have 2 questions :
- Is the color restore an automatic builtin procedure or a windows program ?
- What is the resistor mod in G2 circuit ?
Thank you again !

The colour restore on Sony chasis is built in but not on all models.

This should be the last resort when you are sure that you do not have a component failure.

If this is the Sony SCC-L42D-A on a paper label inside.

The resistor mod is to add a 50k in series with R943 chip resistor set to minimum resistance.

Wait until unit is warm 30 minutes and set user controls to 50% brightness and adjust the pot for correct brightness.
