Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2040. Trying to repair

Hello,

My Diamond Pro 2040 finally died. For a while the problem would show itself by an image suddenly shrinking with a characteristic sound of high tension voltage dissapearing (at least that is what I think it was), but then the picture would restore back to its normal size. I don't think it is a burnt out fly-back, as I never smelled ozon or heard an increased level of high frequency pitch sound. I never smelled any burning from inside of the monitor.

I was hoping that somebody would be able to guide me in the right direction as to where to look for the potential problem. I also was unsucessfull trying to find a service manual for 2040.

Please help,
Jenya

Now the screen doesn't lit up at all. Black. I can see that monitor recognizes the signal from the computer, because its power LED switches from yellow to green when I power up the computer, but nothing appears on the screen.

Your problem is most likley a failed line output transistor blown by dry joints. It would have been best to not use the monitor whilst it was intermittent as that would have been an easy repair but this has now led to more serious problems. I'm not familiar with this particular model but check the line stage and the B+ regulator etc and finally the circuit protector feeding the line stage. And of course resolder the dry joints.

It is in Polish though. I had a Polish friend to translate it for me.
I checked C5303 transistor and it checkes fine.
I guess next thing is to check 2SD1749. Not having a schematic makes things soo much more difficult. I have found a service manual for 2070, but it seems somewhat different from 2040.

I thought I'll share with the info.

Hi, I saw your post and wanted to respond. My diamond Pro 2040 is flickering. Not sure what the problem is or where I can bring it to have it fixed.
Any ideas?
