Once I turn on the monitor after a minute or so the picture will start to shake and become blury. Then I hear this loud pop or loud tick noise. Then the screen will turn blank then right back on. It will continue to do this over and over again.

My monitor did the same thing for a few weeks. A Dell M993 19", 18 month old. I was warned by a friend that it's going to die, but I didn't listen and I didn't buy a replacement. Today the damn thing just died after having a seizure with popping sounds and changes in image size, somewhat similar to repeated despeckle.
Lucky me, I found a 19" NEC in front of my building, so I am temporary back in business :).

I had similar failure on my SONY GDM500PST9. I have changed IC5201= LA6500
on L board and now it is OK.
