| I need to adjust the black level (it's too bright). Which resistor specification do I need for this model IBM P97 monitor?

I think it's the same or similar to the Dell P991/Sony CPD-E400. In this case check the posts for either of these monitors as its a common problem with these monitors along with the 21" version.
Also try doing a colour restore or image restoration which is in the colour menu (or option menu on some versions) to see if it brings it improves it.
