Hi Guys,

Have a Samtron 78e 17" Monitor on my Bench.
There is no Picture and no EHT is being produced.
On opening the back have found the following:

1. Q704 short - IRF 630
2. C615(I think, cant read the silk screen) - 47uf 200V Electro has blown its top.

Have checked other components around the EHT Transformer and all appears OK.

On replacing the above components, the IRF630 blew straight away.
there is no B+ voltage on the collector of HOT, when removing pin 1 of the EHT transformer, am able to get the monitor to run without Q704 blowing.

I have completed a ring test of the Horizontal circuit and it appears to be OK, so I would surmise that the EHT transformer is OK.

Has anyone come across this model of monitor before with this problem?

any information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Matt
