Mitsubishi 2060u / Compaq P1220 screen weirdness

I recently bought three of these monitors in near perfect condition for $100 each. All three have this problem. Must be common. It's not too annoying, but I thought maybe I could find a fix for them.

Occasionally, the width of the screen shrinks an 1/8th of an inch or so for just a moment and then returns to normal. I refer to it as "pumping" in reverse. Usually it does this randomly and maybe only a couple times in an hour. Sometimes it will do this 5-10 times within a second and then it returns to normal. I haven't noticed it in the first few minutes after turn-on, but it doesn't seem to be any worse after they've been on for hours.

Other than this problem the monitors are perfect. I passed on a fourth monitor because it did this constantly.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance.

Fred

Richard:

My first reply to this didn't seem to work.

This screen shrinkage happens quite quickly and I only notice it on the width. It may affect the height too, I just don't catch it in time.

If it is both, any suggestions?

Thanks.

Fred

If it is both then it is an EHT problem if it is only width then it is in line scan.

My Compaq P1220 started doing this recently as well. It does seem unusual that so many monitors of this model are having this issue considering it wasn't released until 2002. I read soemthing once about the automatic controls causing a similar problem but I believe that was only if you installed the software which I didn't. If I remember correctly that was with the Naviset software for the NEC version. Any new info on this?

hello to all
i have this monitor, and the same problem occur.
it got worse , until the picture width got too high and the HOT burn out.
i have manage to get it back to work, but cant fing the reason of width changing.

does anyone know where to find schematics ?
I found only the scheme for the mitsubish 2070 (the compaq p1220 is mitsubishi 2060u)
and there is a big difference between them.

I bought the schematic for the 2060u here:http://www.smpcshop.com/Diamond-Pro-2060u-p-2924.html but unfortunately I don't know enough to understand it. I wish I knew what the problem is. I tried lowering the +b-l and +b-h in the service menu which did seem to stabilize the monitor for a few months but now it's starting to expand again and the same trick isn't working this time.
