Hello,

I have just found this board, while trying to fix my monitor. I have downloaded the service manual and have searched though this forum to try and repair it.
The problem with the monitor is that nothing is displayed on the screen, only the LED flashes amber 1.5 sec on and 0.5 sec off. According to the service manual the fault means "H Stop or V Stop", does anyone have an idea of what to repair or check to try and repair the monitor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ryan

Hi goe here and download the manual, if it is the full manual it will tell you what the blink codes are.

I have already found what the blink codes mean in the service manual. It states that it is a V-Stop of H-Stop Fault. Does anyone know what to look for that might be the problem. I have taken the monitor apart there is nothing that appears to be blown up and no cracked solder joints. Do I need to look in the verical or Horzonial section? Any bad caps or transistors that would need replacing?

More than likely, your HOT is kaput.
Check area...remove HOT & see if code stops...
Also, resolder Vertical I.C. legs.

Thanks for your reply, I don't know how familar you are with this monitor, but would the HOT be Q507 2SC5302 (H-Out) or Q511 IRFU110(H-Drive Out), I will check the transistors out once I get a chance to take the monitor apart again. Do you know what would cause the HOT to fail? Heat? should I check anything else?

HOT = Horizontal Output Transistor = Q507

If Q507 is short also check Q520.

Ok, I've had a chance over the weekend to look at the monitor again. I inspected Q507, at the time I thought there was a short between Base and Emitter. So I removed the transistor, but it checked out ok, measuring on the PCB with the transistor removed at the B and E points it is 1.2ohms which I worked out was from 2 2.2ohms resistors in parallel via T504. I also checked for shorts on Q520 and there were none. So I guess I'm back to square one. Does anyone know what else I can check seeing that the hot seems ok?

Hi I believe this unit suffers from failing caps on the secondary of the psu.

Ok, I have replaced as many Secondary PSU caps as I could, the monitor still does not display. One thing I did notice that the led when on and starts flashing seems dim, to me it seems like it should be brighter. Might be a clue to someone?
thanks for the help so far
