(Philips CM25+ chassis) I noticed some changes that horizontal size changes slowly on both sides to shrunk @ normal operation, then sometimes a TIC sound occured with the horizontal and vertical change rapidly (picture expand), a dimmer picture during the TIC sound occurance...then slowly back to normal as it goes slowly changes the horizontal size to shrunk.

I really needed someones advice...What causes these problem?

Hi!

What should be the value that i must follow for this part# 3441? cuz' i found out that the actual value that was on the mainboard measured 62k or colored as it is 62k and on the schematic or even on the part list description it is only 33k...should i replace this 68k into 33k? could it be the origin of some problem on this chassis? To those who owned or service this monitor, what was the value of the part#3441 of your compaq V1100? is it 62k or 33k?

Pls help!

Richard B,

Hi there! I tried replacing 3441 from 62k to 33k and the horizontal size gets smaller that you could not full the screen area even on the optimum setting of the horizontal size, but the HOT was not as hot as the 62k value (cooler than 62k). Then id replaced it back into the original value and the i could now set the H-size into full screen...and back into basic problem that the HOT was too hot(very hot), as it goes hotter the horizontal size slowly gets shrunk. specially at the right side of the screen.

is there any remedy for this?

This is most likely cause by poor H drive.

Check you have the correct type of transistor, also 2501 capacitor on primary of HOT base drive TX if this is OK then fet 7501.

Richard B,

Hi there! Thank You for the kindness...before i started posting this problem i had already replaced this parts:
a.) 7541 Power FET 2SJ512.
b.) 7502 HOT 2SC5445 replaced with 2SC5144.
c.) 2506 220p 2KV.
d.) 2507 220p 2KV.
e.) 2501 1u 160V.
f.) 2502 1u 160V non polar replaced with two 2.2u electrolytic capacitors in series, with their terminals connected like this:(+ -- +)=1.1 non polar (pls correct me this, if im wrong).
g.) 2811 1u 250V (this capacitor blown during the damage of the HOT and the 2SJ512).

As you could figured out that letter (g) problem wasnt among the group at the horizontal, it was a part psu(80V) of video crt and that may gives a clue that those horizontal problem maybe lies on power supply...so I replaced:
a.) 2131 100u 250V.
b.) 2133 220u 100V.
c.) 7502 from 2SC5144 to 2SC5244A.
d.) 2502 from 2.2u electrolytic caps in series into 1u 250V mylar(hopefully this could last long).

Now the picture was better and did not shinks....the only problem that remain was sometimes a TIC sound with a picture that expands (vertical and horizontal).

Someone pls give some advice or comment in addition or a change on what i did...Thank you in advance.

Thanks a lot Richard B.

This tick sound could be either CRT flashover or the EHT cap not on properly or the PSU missing a beat now and again or FBT.

Rich,

I'm too confused of that TIC sound, I could not watch on the appeance of that TIC sound for the whole day, i dont know where did it came from, but i think it's somewhere on the horizontal section. Sometimes it disappear for a while, a day or two! and there were times it occured just 15 minutes since i start using it...anyway, i too sometimes forgot that it's still exist.

Thanks a lot for the respond, God Bless!
