I have a Envision EN-LM500 monitor that has a strange problem. I turn it on, works fine for ten minutes. After that it goes black for three seconds at a time at ramdom intervals. I suspect the backlight inverter, anyone have any ideas?

Try it with a lower/higher brightness settings to see if it changes the time between blanking out the screen.

Hadn't noticed how low the brightness settings were in order for it to look right. I'll turn it up and post what happens.

Does not seem to make a difference.

It is hard to be sure as a number of things can cause this from failed capacitors in the psu to capacitors on the inverter or the pwm ic on the inverter or a tired lamp.

How many volts should the ps put out?

Hi if it is an external psu it will say on it if internal it is more dificult but common values are +12V and +5V, but more commonly is the ripple on the supplies for which you will need a scope to see or just replace all the output capacitors.

Changed all the capacitors on the inverter board, psu & main board. Still goes black but not as often.

Now I'm totally lost, my son put a fan behind the monitor and 2 hours so far without it going black. Do these monitors have a problem with getting too hot?

The inverter and PSU can run quite warm also the chips.

Without a scope and some freezer spray ih is hard to tell you anymore.
