Help fixing CRT monitors?December 1 2005 at 5:28 AM No score for this post | Nicholas (no login) |
| Hi all!
I have a couple of good monitors, that aren't sp good right now.
I've been looking on the net, but it's hard to find good forums/sites that are
easy on the eyes
For example, I got a 21" DIGITAL(the brand) monitor(based on a Mitsubishi) that
wouldn't turn on last night(100% dead). I opened up the fortress(!), and the fuse was dead, so I changed it. Then I powered her up, SNAP..smoke, something I believe to be a zener diode on the PSU was blown. Right by the first couple of caps, and next to the powerplug. The new fuse died, too.
So, now I'm thinking: What caused the zener to blow? all the caps on the PSU
looks good. There must a 'default' fault finding operation?
Besides that I have several others, for example one that turns on(just not tube),
lights etc. are great.
So if you know of common faults, let me know!!
Thanks!

one of the 21" mitsu's suffers from failed 110/240V setting it sets itself to 110V operation all the time so if you power it up from 240 then bang.
If the unit is going to be always used on 240V when I get one of these I remove the auto 110/240V sensing and switching circuit.

My problem is I do not have schematics for this unit or one to look at.
I know how they do the 110/240V switching so when I look at a psu I know what parts to take out.
