I've had a Sony GDM-F500R for about five years. Over the last few years the black levels have gotten brighter and brighter. I've heard there's a fix with a resistor ... can anyone tell me what it is?

Thanks!

If you don't have the resistor handy, this is much easier. Using the resistor can also cause warmup to be too dark, and is a pain to adjust right as you need to try different resistances (have many resistors handy, and be good at soldering).

Follow my howto on how to free download Sony DAS/Sony WinDAS/Sony Win DAS, un lock it, and use it.

I cover how to build the interface cable, you may already have such a cable as it is common for cell phone data cables, electronic organizers, etc. You can get everything you need for 15$ or less on sites like jameco.com . No need to remove the monitor cover!
