Newbie here. I own a 4 yr. old IBM P260 monitor. I am the original owner and purchased it brand new back then. I was using it 2 nights ago when I heard a distinct "pop" sound emminate from within the back of the monitor. The image on the monitor started to disappear/fade and the screen became black within ten seconds. It does not display an image at all any longer. The power LED turns green when I depress the power button, but the screen remains black. Any ideas on what may have happened? Is it worth having it repaired? I have no electronic experience so I would not be attempting repairs myself.
If it matters, it has always had these issues:
1) Never focused properly right off the bat. Image shrunk quickly, then got bigger.
2) Did not fill the screen from edge to edge until it warms up for half an hour or more. Usually the left edge of the image was about 1/8" from the left vertical viewable edge of the monitor screen.
3) Brightness was way too bright no matter what adjustments I made.
However, the image quality was exceptional. I am using a 19" LCD right now and it doesn't hold a candle to the detail that the P260 can display.
