This is my first time posting here, so i hope i didnt break any rules with repeats or anything.
Anyway, i have a Compaq 7550 17" monitor that has a faulty wire or connection withing 5 inches of the end connector. I didnt want to go out and purchase a new monitor, so i went to radio shack and bought a new connector and housing only to realise i didnt know what the schematic for the pins was. It is a 9 pin plug.
If it helps the serial number is: 206CN43CL475

The way I fix those is to get a new cable and cut one end off. now get some heatshrink (2 sizes) chop the old lead off at a convenient point inside and solder the wires to the chopped off plug(s) To find out how chop the old lead at the computer end long enough to bare the wires and read to the pins. You often find blue goes to green etc so diagrams are not a great help the leads are not colour coded except for RGB. Remember to leave enough length to slide heat shink on and on the RGB you have a shield so its 2 sizes. After I finish I wrap in aluminium foil then plastic tape.
