Hello,
I've met a monitor expert that told me that thoses green lines i have across my screen are due to a too high level of brightness on the hardware side that produce thoses green lines and it can easily get fixed. Thing is he was asking me 140$ to fix it and it's a year 2000 monitor so my guess is it was over priced... Now can anyone tell me how to lower the brightness on the hardware side??

TiA :D

This is a typical brighness problem which occurs when the G2 voltage is too high, and the data stored on monitor's EPPROM the becomes corrupted. Basically, there are two fix approaches to this common problem: a resistor fix, and WinDAS fix. Go ahead and review the following forum at www.short-media.com ..."DELL P1110 TOO BRIGHT" forum. In there, you'll find everything you need to know and do in order to solve this problem. Gregua256 (P991 DELL SONY) is the absolute expert on the brightness problem and WinDAS. He is the author of a well put together "HOW TO USE" WinDAS that you can find at www.geocities.com/gregua/windas/

Also, please make sure you check http://people.aapt.net.au/~augen/windas%20short%20media%20forums%20monitor%20fix/

Hope this helps...

Sincerely,

Luis A. Grunauer, Jr.

Also, Richard B, who has lend to many of us in this forum valuable assistance and guidance, is an authority on monitor repair, and he can guide you on the resistor approach, if you wish to go that rout.

Hope this helps...

Does any one know for sure if this problem is a hardware or software problem?

Looked at this forum and some blame the problem on the picture tube?
