I'm trying to build my own basic projector, the idea most people know of, strip the lcd panel from its casing and backlight keep it on top of an overhead projector and control the cooling and you have a basic projector.
The issue is that some control boards of lcd panels come with wiring makes it impossible for the control boards to be taken out of the way so as to lay down the lcd on top of a projector mostly due to short multiple FFC connections from different sides of the lcd pannel.
So my question is, anyone of you who have repaired the Dell E151FP know for sure whether this issue is there on these monitors ? Are there multiple FFC cables from many sides of the lcd pannel ?
Thanks.

I've repaired quite a few of the Dells and am currently building a projector (E151FPb). There are two of the FCC cables leading to the lcd screen itself from the controller (A/D) board. Everything lays out well and there is noting blocking the screen when stripped. There is no need for extensions either as the FCC's are quite long enough to allow the circuit boards to be tucked away nicely. I would recommend that you use the mounting points from the monitor and cut them accordingly to fit your cabinet. Good luck and happy viewing.
