Help! This is so frustrating! I have a Samsung Syncmaster 955df. I need to get inside I have already removed the two screws at the bottom but can't manage to get the back off. The only problem is, it is too dark, I know I could fix if if I could just get in. I bought it used for 30$, an awesome buy but I will have to exchange it for some 17 inch piece of crap so my warranty doesn't expire, If I can't Open it soon.

Samsungs do not have a G2 or sub brightness control so unless you intend to modify the circuit or check for a fault you are wasting your time taking the cover off, they are set up using software called softjig and a hardware interface.

http://www.eserviceinfo.com/equipment_mfg/SAMSUNG+softjig+and+interface.rar_3.html

There are hidden plastic retaining clips between the two halves. I usually place the monitor face down on some foam rubber and then place one arm around the cabinet rear and lift the whole unit about 1 inch from the foam rubber then you can go round hitting the case with the other hand.

This will usually shock the clips apart.

Wow, this seems to require quite a bit of strenth, it's so akward that I can't really keep it up long enough to figure out were to hit it at. I assume you meant hit it on the back side, not the plastic around the screen right? Where are the clips located, I don't seem to be seeing any response from it. As far as the hardware interface device goes, I'll build it If I have to. Do you think it is possible that for some reason the manufacturer software brightness setting (if there is one) became corrupted and was set to a lower value than when it was manufactured? If thats not the case then I highly suspect there is a fault, the thing is REALLY dark. Thanks again!

You can sometimes see where the clips are if you check in the top crack there are usually 2 and about 3ins in from the corners along the top. I agree though you are wasting time, usual with samsung is a low tube, lots of those just made it past warranty.

Hit it around the join between the front and rear.
