Hi i found this forum using google to solve my problem. well here it is
i have a NEC/Packardbell Slimview 517 and the vga monitor cable is damaged so i taken off the male end of the vga,and just have the beare wires. I need to re attach a 15pin VGA connector back onto it (male end by grapics card)
Basicly i have 12 wires colored
Black (going to the metal shielding around the cable)
Red+ground
Green+ground
Blue+ground
Black
Yellow
grey
White
Orange
Im wondering if oneone can tell me what pins these need to connect to on the male end of the VGA connector.
i can post pictures if required.
Thankyou.

Hi I am afraid that their is not any colour convention.
So you will need someone who has one of these to test or someone who has replaced this and noted the colours.
The Red + Gnd will got to 1 and 6
The Green + Gnd will go to 2 and 7
The Blue + Gnd will go to 3 and 8
The Gnd's being 6,7 and 8.
If you are lucky it may say what the signals are on the PCB inside the monitor.
15 Way HD wiring convention
Red inner Pin 1
Green inner Pin 2
Blue inner Pin 3
Pin 4 n/c
Pin 5 sometimes used as monitor self test if not connected to card displays either blank screen or self test or no sig.
Red Outer Pin 6
Green Outer Pin 7
Blue Outer Pin 8
Pin 9 n/c
Pin 10 digital Gnd
Pin 11 n/c
Pin 12 DDC SDA
Pin 13 H sync
Pin 14 V sync
Pin 15 DDC SCL
