I'm repairing Compaq 7500 monitor (17'')
i found the HOT short. It was 2CS5387. I used BU2527DF there.
It works, but the HOT is really hot (can't touch it). There are no other bad parts. i can't find 2CS5387. Can changign of value of base resistor help to reduce dissipation? i have to increase or decrease resistance?

Thanks

To cool the HOT

Place a fast diode in paralell with the base resistor
Anode must be on the base of the transistor

Change gradually the value of the resistor until find
an optimal value

Hi you may still have a fault which caused the failure of the origional fault.

The base drive ciruit some times has electrolytic capaitors in the base itself and or in the primary circuit check these first.

-i checked all electrolytes around h-deflection circuits with ESRmeter. I replaced The electrolyt in base drive circuit for sure.

-There's allready a diode in parallel with HOT-base resistor (anode on base)

Richard is right because capacitors on the base might cause the H.O.T to become to HOT

However the fact of being too HOT, could be caused also for de H.O.T itself (because though equivalent, it's different from original)

The right change on the value of the base resistor will cause the H.O.T to be less HOT
