Dell E172FPt monitor goes black

I have a Dell E172FPt monitor that goes black but you can shine a light into the screen and see the icons or web page! it's the backlight inverter board that is bad i ordered one from a website and in 3 hrs it did the same thing they sent me another one and it was dead on arrive!! does anyone know how to repair the board i found a forum somewhere that you could put in a jumper and jump around some stuff and make it work again does anyone know anything about this????? thanks
