Landowners Dinner 04-26-08

No score for this post
April 26 2008, 1:23 PM

Something this Club has done from day one is to thank our Landowners for the privilege of riding on their property. This year, as was last year, we are having a Landowners’ Dinner. I have included your invitation to the Dinner with this newsletter. I ask everyone to please RSVP to Chris and Dave Bugai by the date posted. If you say you are going to attend, then please due. The Club will be charged for the dinners of the no shows. It has been tradition for our Members to bring some raffle prizes to the dinner. You may certainly ask any businesses to donate also. I will see that they will receive a thank you card with our tax numbers. This helps differ the cost of our Landowners’ dinners and bring some entertainment to the dinner. Unless you would like to hear Brother Bill sing. Please bring a raffle prize that you might like to win, because you might. I would like to thank Chris and Dave for organizing this dinner which has always been a great time. Jim M.

Seeking Nominations for Ron Walker and Clayton Buck Awards

No score for this post
April 26 2008, 1:25 PM

We are still seeking nominations for our awards which we present during our Landowners’ Dinner. These nominations must be in writing and be turned in by our next meeting. The Ron Walker Award nomination must be given to Phil Schultz so he can select a committee to decide on the winner. This award is given to a Club Member or Members for their Outstanding and Dedicated Service to our Club. The other award is the Clayton Buck Award. This award is given to a Club Member for their Service and Participation in the Club for Twenty Years or More. This nomination must be presented to me, The President, so I can select a committee to decide upon the winner.

I would like to congratulate Bill Schumann on being named the President of the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs. He is a very good friend of our Club and has attended many of our functions. He was also the President of the Illinois Association of Snowmobile Clubs for a number of years. Good luck Bill.

Chain O’ Lakes State Park,
8916 Wilmot Road Spring Grove, Illinois
Honeysuckle Hollow Campground

Enjoy the quiet, relaxing surroundings of this Illinois State Park with other GLSC members and friends.

Tents, Campers, Travel Trailers and RV’s are permitted.

Bikes, canoes and paddleboats are available for rental at the camp store.

Free boat launch access to the Chain O’ Lakes and the Fox River at this park.

Bring your fishing gear, you are in the heart of the Chain O’ Lakes and fishing is usually good this time of year. Fishing bait is available at the camp store.

I have planned an evening social with appetizers and snacks for all. Please bring a dish to pass. The chocolate fountain was a hit last year so look for it again this year.

A scavenger hunt is planned for the kids with gifts for all participants. We will have a great campfire with marshmallows and s’mores for all.

This is an “Alcohol Prohibited” campground, so please be discrete on how you handle your beverages. I highly recommend cups for your beverages and keeping your empties out of plain sight.
