C4GF 4100 for Mustang 289

I have a C4GF-AF carburetor from a 1964 Comet with a 289 which I would like to use on my 67 Mustang. I understand it is not best to install a carburetor used on one model vehicle on a different model vehicle. Since the Comet and Mustang are similar in size and both used the 289, would this carb work for this application? What problems might I encounter using the carb on my Mustang? Should it be rebuilt to Comet or Mustang specs?
