Hey Bill White, a question back for you

Bill,
I have the carb back together and the truck idles fine and pulls strong, no complaints except for squealing belts on the motor now. But, you said the check ball was not very good. Do you know if I could have used the new needle piece with the orifice I had? Reason I am asking is I am going to keep this vehicle for quite some time and may opt to drop that needle piece in next time I have the carb open. What issues does the check ball create compared to the needle piece? With gas expensive, I'm looking to get the best running setup.
