My feeling exactly, Next time you are getting some work done, just casually mention that you are a mechanic and work on carburetors, and you have seen how some other carb "experts" have used dental tools to helps with o-rings and cleaning small passages. Casually ask where a NON-dentist could get tools like his, and ask then what he does with his used tools........
If the dentist is smart at all he will realize 1) you are not a kid and will not be getting a balloon or any other trinket he usually gives kids who visit him 2) you have helped pay for his airplanes, cars, house and will continue to do so in the future, and 3) if he has any used tools will give them to you or 4) save them for you so when you visit next time rather than throw them out.
