I have a 66 Mustang with 4100 carb that just runs awful.Carb tag#isC6ZFA A5GC,# on carb body is6ZA.Main problem is transition from idle speed to pulling out in first gear and shifting to second gear at moderate speeds, engine noses over and bucks so badly it will bark the tires, some better at speed but still not right.Heres what I know, carb has been worked on recently by someone that used that yellow glue on secondary pump housing, scary in itself, spark plugs have no sign of ever seeing fuel,no coloring,no carbon, nothing, choke was stuck and spring broke,Ifreed up and rebent a tang on the spring and reinstalled.Carb would seesaw from idling some to bogging down and finally dying,I have run carb cleaner through engine, opening throttle and chokeing engine down with a rag until it idles ok and takes gas setting still.I hooked a timing light up and noticed that when you open the throttle the timing advance drops before advancing.Someone had put in about 35 degrees inital advance,I set it back to 10.Installed new points and condenser, has new cap, wires rotor,I rebuilt engine for current owners father 25 years ago and only change from stock is a very mild camshaft, lost track of car until his son called and asked for my help.Ihave gotten old in this time and haven't done much car work but I told him I would try.Sorry so long, but does anyone have a step by step resourcesince I will have to check everything, not knowing what someone else has done? Thanks in advance.
