Response to Julie,........

I try to avoid being afraid of trying anything, it keeps life more interesting that way. I may not always succeed on my own, but this is how we learn..

Meanwhile, with regards to the 2100, the 1.23 unit I'm looking at isn't a "truck carb" per se - at least not from the part number (C7OF-U). Would you happen to know the original application? It also appears to be setup for a manual trans - is it difficult/possible to install linkage for the auto trans kickdown?

As for the manifold, I was out there tonight tracing out vacuum lines and certainly see what you mean - "swiss cheese. " What a nightmare! I may need to take another drive out to the junkyards and see if I can find a different intake. Or mix up a batch of marine-tex and block off the ports I don't need if it comes to that..

I was itching to start tearing into things and pull the VV carb and some of that EEC rat's nest off the engine, but then I realized it might be better not to replace both the carb and the distributor at the same time. So we'll leave things alone for now until I get the new dist (modified HEI?) installed so I can at least make sure it runs (albeit badly) before moving on to the new carb. One step at a time..

Thanks again for the kind words and advice. Be well..
~Julie
