I haven't seen the bare intake yet either, but from peering under and around the current carb it looks like the ports come off the intake itself in a way that a spacer wouldn't take care of. I may also be wrong, won't know for sure until I have the VV carb off..

As for the distributor, because the EEC-III manages the timing there's no mechanical or vacuum advance on it. When I rid myself of the VV carb I'll be pulling the rest of the EEC gear off as well, thus the need for a new dist..
