I posted earlier looking for the float measurements for a 65ZFD carb. First, thanks to Lee for the response. I did replace the needles and seats and re-adjusted the floats to the correct level, the car runs great, but the carb is still leaking gas. The riser to manifold gasket (new) is wet again, damn it!!! I sneaked a peek inside the carb with the engine running and I think I found the problem, but I have no idea how to fix it.
There doesn't look like there is any leak when the car is idling or running at a steady RPM. However, as soon as I tweak the accelerator, I get a gas leaking from around the primary venturi booster screw. The initial squirt of gas into the throat is fine (shoots right into the venturi, doesn't splash against anything on the way), but there is also a bit of gas that appears around the venturi booster screw. Every time the accelerator pump squirts gas into the carb, more gas leaks around the screw. I can't see where the gas comes from, it seems to come from around the booster screw. We did replace the weight, gasket and accelerator pump disharge check ball, along with both gaskets between the nozzle bar and the carb body on both the primary and secondary sides.
Any ideas on where to look and/or how to find the leak?
