I have a Motorcraft 5200 2 BBL carb I will be using for a project, and it has a ball on the end of a short stud that is all part of the throttle lever. I cannot unscrew this arrangement - it appears to be welded or staked to the lever. If I recall correctly, the OEM throttle cable had a fitting on the end of it that clicked on to this ball.
My question is, is there a female fitting available (Dorman, etc.) that will click on to the ball and allow me to add a cable or rod to the fitting so I can assemble a custom accelerator cable?
Thanks!

What I have always done in this case is to look for an old accelerator cable from a wrecked car to obtain the correct linkage, nice thing is most 70's and up style cars (which your 5200 came from) use those cable type accelerators and are readily available.
I have seen those ends here and there but I think by the time you go through trying find them and then jury riggin one up or recreating one you probably will be better off getting and actual one from a wrecked car.
Other option would be LOKAR a company specialing in linkages for the hot rod industry, probably be more expensive but they have some really nice stuff and really trick stuff. At the very least they might make life a whole lot less difficult.
Its always easier to replicate or buy a ready made piece rather than trying to re-invent the wheel. Of course I am getting lazier in my old age HAHA.
