Hi Bill i havent posted in awhile as my 62 galaxie w/a 4100 4bbl (i rebuilt myself)with the help of you and this forumran great all summer. Now in NJ with temps in the 30-40 range in the morning i have to pump the pedal and crank. It takes a while and i spray starter fluid too. The choke is closed and it still just cranks but it eventually fires. This was i mild rebuild 9.5 to 1 pistons a crane rv cam and FPA long tube headers. Im also running a pertronix electronic dizzy. There is no warm water circulating thru the carb spacer(disconnected) and there is no hot air choke stove as i now have headers.Im relying on the choke thermostatic spring .Thats It.I will be putting it in storage in 2 weeks (due to salt on the roads after the first storm) But i spoke with a guy from Michigan and he said he never ran a choke on his cars during the winter he ran it all year chokeless and says it must be something else. Im stumped. Thanks Mike

Could be the choke or it could be something else.
Is it hard to start after its been running, and after its been running does the choke open up?
How is it running, any stumbling especially when its cold?

I have also ran just the choke with no water going thru strictly relying on the bimetal cap, but I am in the moderate and balmy Pacific NW so that is not really a good comparision.

If its been running good all summer then live with the two weeks, and deal with it. (after all you will be rebuilding the carb before you fire it up in spring RIGHT....)

Let me know more...
