I'm new to this forum and fairly new to Ford carbs. I'm just wondering if there is a way to identify 4100 venturis by year, size and/or application to allow for proper carb setup and possibly performance mods. I'm also wondering if 2100 parts (venturis, etc.) can be used in the 4100 as substitutes or even upgrade possibilites. Any comments would be appreciated.

2100 vs 4100 ids and parts

Yeop easy to identify what carb should go to what, take a look at the alpha- numeric number located on the drivers side base, directly below the venturi clock and the accelerator pump rod. That will tell you all!!!!

Yes most all parts can be switched to and from the 2100 to the 4100 and visa-versa, However I would HIGHLY reccomend NOT changing out the venturis, firstly there is no known guide to what each venturi measures out(and there are about 10 differing things on each venturi) and also (and more importantly) each venturi is designed to work with the idle transfer slots, air bleeds, venturi size, jetting and mixture screws and unfortunatley there is no guide to how each interacts on each other.

Without a precision flow bench and PRECISE measuring equipment (down to 3 to 4 digits) one would never be able to figure out all of the variables involved and would really only end up ruining good carburetors by disrupting the precise equilibruim for that particular carburetor.

Been there and tried to do this when I had access the all the precise machinery and it just plain proved to be to much of a pain in the a&&.

Good question though,
