Hi folks, my first post to this forum. I own a 64 T-Bird with a non-original carb on it. The casting number on it reads C3AF-AU. According to restoration guides for my car, it should have a C4SF-A or B carb. I am wondering what model of Ford my present carb was designed for and if there are any differences between the two models of carbs. Thanks for the help.

You are correct about the C4SF-A, and the -B, being correct for your car.
Your carb is from a 1963 galaxie with the 352/390.
Both carbs are 1.12 venturi 600 CFM carbs and although not numbers correct, being how both engines are FE, and both cars are very, very close in size and weight, you should have not problems using that carb with your application.
Yes the carbs however, are different (air bleeds, venturis, bench settings, jetting), so when you rebuild it, rebuild it using the 63 passenger car specs for the galaxie.

My T-Bird was built on or about April 10/64 so it's not an early production car. The third character (A) means that this was a carb originally installed on a big Ford ie. Galaxie. All 1964 T-Birds used either a C4SF-A or C4SF-B carb.
I've already had the carb restored to concours standard and will be re-installing it shortly.
