Helping a friend with a 4100 from his 66 T-Bird. When the venturi assemblies were removed the tubes fell off and were just sitting in the bowl. This included the small tubes which went back in and stayed but the outer ones were loose. After cleaning everything I carefully epoxied them back in and reassembled the carb.

The car idles nice now and runs great. I have used the same epoxy in fuel before so I'm not worried about that. My question is why did they fall out and if you guys have ran into this what did you do?

In fact on really sludged up carbs I remove them to get them cleaned.

They are just pressed in (rather well I might add which makes them difficult to pull if you need to) but I have seen, occasionaly, just like yours where they have come loose.

I never epoxy them since you do not want them to get blocked but I supposed if you did it very carefully it would not hurt.

This carb was rebuilt not to long ago so they must have pulled the tubes out to clean. I never tried to remove them before so that is a good idea to pull them if really dirty. It's just that these just fell out too easily. I thought of dimpling or expanding them but a very thin layer of epoxy worked. Thanks for the reply.

staked in, with a little bit of the aluminum housing folded over, quite possible someone did remove them to be cleaned. But it would have had to been a pretty decent rebuilder as this step is usually never done.
