Bought a motorcraft rebuild kit and took things apart and cleaned and checked everything. Put carb back on and the problem was still there. Pulled distributor and replaced the breaker plate.Problem solved. I read on Recarbco's website that a loose breaker plate could be one of the reasons for the car to shut off when you pull it in gear but dismissed it,as I thought sure it had to be a carb problem. You are correct Bill when you say how simple these 2100's are, even for me. Thanks for the suggestions and for a great site. Barry

After all EVERYTHING ALWAYS GETS BLAMED ON THE CARBURETOR. THATS A LONG STANDING MANTRA, MAKES IT EASIER FOR SERVICE MANAGERS TO SELL CAR PARTS AND SERVICES!!!!!!!!!
"ALL THEY NEED IS AN EXCUSE TO LOOK UNDER YOUR HOOD" and the carburetor is still mostly shrouded in black magic voodoo. Nowadays you see the same thing with fuel injectors.......
Thanks for the comments on the forum, but ED gets all the credit for getting it running and keeping it going, I am just a contributor.
THANKS AGAIN ED!!!!!!!
