I have a carburetor # C5ZF E, and it only has one secondary vacuum tube pointing down the primary venturi side. The top of the carb does not have a hot idle compensator valve and the other carburetor that I have has two tubes and the compensator valve. Could it be that the top came off a carburetor that was not a 1.08. I have looked in the 1966 Mustang shop manual and the diagrams show two. Will the carburetor function the way it is or should I swap the tops. The other carburetor # C5ZF C. Lee, I have not taken apart the 3rd carburetor to check the booster as of yet. Thanks for your help.

you are talking about the little brass vacuum tube that sticks down into the primary booster venturi, and supplies a vacuum signal to the secondary diaphram. My 1.12, which DOES have the HIC valve, only has one of these tubes. And my dad's Mustang's 1.08, has one brass tube as well, but NO HIC valve. I just tell you the configurations I am familiar with, not the REASON for these configurations. Bill White and/or others may have a better answer for you.

I didn't know if there was a specific set up for the different models. I guess I will have to install the carburetor and give it a test run.

Thanks

The tubes...

The tubes are vacuum secondary pick up tubes.

The Galaxie 1.08's all seem to have 2 of them this only seems to slow the opening rate of the secondary.

These also have the hot idle compensator. This valve came about in 1964 from what I can tell and was used on all 1.12's and some 1.08's

I'm not sure why the Mustang 1.08's never seem to have the hic valve.

the top you have will work just fine.
