Carter Accelerator pump

Is the accelerator pump assembly the same as the Edelbrock 1406 unit. I have put a rebuild kit into the Carter 625 AFB and seems to idle fine , but has a hesitation like it isn't getting a fuel shot. That was the case. I thought that the original pump that came out prior to the rebuild looked thicker than the new one. Is there more than one style pump. Or does the rubber gasket swell over time.
