Quote from Bro. James:
"Some hang their hat on one reference without looking at what else is said or later more mature thoughts on the subject. It's called harmonizing the scriptures as Bros. Russell, Johnson and Jolly recommend.
If they can't bully you into agreeing with their viewpoint, they no longer want to discuss the matter further.
Bro. Johnson in several references clarifies his thoughts concerning the Antitypical Ark, Youthful Worthies and classes as a whole. I guess we are to ignore the later thoughts that "harmonizes the apparent discrepancy"."
This is exactly what has been happening. First there were two views when there used to only be one. Now they say there is the new view and the new view has always been the view. They actually deny there was a change at all. And, when you give them references, logic, problems that are caused with the "present view," they do not deal with what you say at all.
Oddly, you can ask them to go back to old convention sermons, etc......and they will have none of it.
And....they act like we have done something wrong by sticking with what has always been taught.
I just see it as very, very bizarre.
I think it comes from fear. If they are wrong, they lose something - belonging to something, position, platform. Those of us who have defended the truth have nothing else to lose. We're already there. We have nothing else to lose or anything exciting to gain. I wonder who is more objective then?
I do miss the brethren though. And, I miss how they used to act and how conventions used to be a welcoming place.
