The apologetics were puny FOR a Creator God and you really nailed it. His bias was there from the get-go--you're right about that. Why Science is an enemy and why God is so defended is beyond me. So what?
Because we really CAN'T prove God exists. I can't prove you exist for that matter. Or that Darwin existed. For all I know, God is a myth. Or you're a myth. For all you know, I'm a myth.
The evidence I have before me is only hearsay-- on everything. How do I know anything except by what I read? See? Hear?
And my "world" is my mind--and how much can I trust it, really? I've been indoctrinated since I was born. So have you. So has everyone.
And if my "world" is my mind, then "the Christ", that every human seems to seek for some odd reason (must be our human ignorance), rises above "me." And then its not at all about "me" any longer, but about Christ. And it being no longer about "me", its about all--all who've ever lived, are living, and ever will. And whether one believes or not, what difference does it really make?
Certainly many if not most of the ills of "the world", past and present can be placed at the feet of Religion. The "gaps" are filled by God by these apologists, because they know that as long as there is ignorance in the gaps--they have a chance to capitalize on it.
When Science fills ALL the gaps, what then? Why is it that God isn't a God of reason (if He created it) and common sense (if He created it) and a Grand Scientist in His own right? Why must Religion view Science as an enemy? IF there is a God, then Science isn't at all an enemy--and that, AA, is the point I want to make; the real "heart" of the matter. That's the biggest "gap" of all, imo. --rhonda
