Yeah I've noticed that there is a large movement towards secularization and a moving away from, as you say, traditional Christianity to more of a deistic type of belief. I've run into several people who hold that view.
I think the scientist you're referring to is Richard Dawkins. I don't understand exactly what you're asking though. Are you asking why Dawkins thinks that life arose from non-life? The evidence for it? Or asking if I think that?
You asked how there's a difference really, from a belief in that and a belief in God bringing this about.
So, are you asking what the difference is between God guiding evolution and a completely natural explanation? Well, I would agree with you that in many ways, unless God put tale-tale clues into his designs (which intelligent design claims to be able to detect, but have failed up to this point), a God directed evolution and natural evolution might look the same. But, as I argued, because I see no evidence for a God I think the most likely explanation is that life arose through purely natural means. How that happened, we're not sure and we may never know. But, who knows what the future will bring.
Thank you so much for the kind words. It always makes a writer feel all warm and fuzzy when someones likes their work. : ) No I don't mind if you share it at all.
Take care.
