[Episcopal News Service] His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI has announced
his plans to allow provisions that would accept groups of former
Anglicans who wish to convert to the Roman Catholic Church, according
to an Oct. 20 press release from The Vatican.

The press release announced the preparation of an Apostolic
Constitution that would allow such converts to enter full communion
with the Catholic Church while preserving elements of Anglican
spirituality and liturgy. Under the terms of the Apostolic
Constitution, the release said, "pastoral oversight and guidance will
be provided for groups of former Anglicans through a Personal
Ordinariate, whose Ordinary will usually be appointed from among
former Anglican clergy."

In a statement from the Episcopal Church, Bishop Christopher Epting,
ecumenical and interfaith officer, said that the announcement
"reflects what the Roman Catholic Church, through its acceptance of
Anglican rite parishes, has been doing for some years more informally
... We are in dialogue with the archbishop's office and will, in the
coming days, continue to explore the full implications of this in our
ecumenical relations."

As foretold??

October 26 2009, 5:18 AM

Bro. Regan, it is interesting to be able to witness the continuing "melding" of the religious powers as was foretold in Scripture. The following article is from the July/August 1972 Present Truth magazine and relates to the issue in your posting:

GOD'S WORK IN THE RELIGIOUS WORLD
And what do we see, as from God's standpoint we look out over "his work, his strange work," in this our day? We see, first of all, that which interests us the most, namely, what God has done and is doing for His people. What joy is ours as in the light of God's Word we now see that the Harvest reaping and rapturing of the Little Flock is complete (Epiphany volume 5, pp. 143-177), that "the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready" (Rev. 19: 7), and that she is with Him in the glory of the First Resurrection, assisting in the destruction of Satan's empire (1 Thes. 4: 17; 2 Pet. 1: 4; Psa. 45: 9; 2: 8, 9; Rev. 2: 26, 27; 19: 8, 11-21; 20: 4, 6)! We see also His wonderful work during this Epiphany time for the deliverance of the Great Company (Psa. 107: 10-16; 45: 14, 15; Rev. 7: 9-17; 19: 9), the gathering and perfecting of His fourth elect classthe Youthful Worthies (P '72, pp. 34-48)and the gathering and developing of the Consecrated Epiphany Campers (Present Truth magazine 1959, pp. 41-43; '70, pp. 87-91). We behold also His marvelous work in the Epiphany Camp among the unconsecrated faith-justified ones and the unjustified nominal Christians.
Furthermore, we see the great work of Matt. 13: 30 fully accomplished and the various companies of tares bound together into many denominational bundles and labeled with various sectarian names. We see that these bundles began in 1914 to be cast into the furnace of fire (Matt. 13: 40-43), the great tribulation, and that the burning is still going on (Rev. 14: 14-20; E 6, pp. 314, 385). The ecclesiastical heavens of Christendom continue to roll together as a scroll, prior to their passing away (Rev. 6: 14). We are witnessing the gradual fulfilment of the remarkable prophecy in Isa. 34: 4: "All the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree."
We see Satan desperately trying to save his "synagogue" (Rev. 2: 9; 3: 9) from destruction. He as "an angel of light" has deceived his ministers and their followers through fear and the spirit of ecumenism to call for and arrange a confederacy (2 Cor. 11: 14, 15; Isa. 8: 12). Protestants of every name and order are doing homage to what they are pleased to call "the mother church," apparently all unconscious of the fact that the Lord calls it a harlot church and the mother of harlots (Rev. 17: 1-5).
"Union" is the watchword today throughout the length and breadth of Christendom, so-called. In union is strength, they say; and strength to brave the storm, which they all see upon them, is what they all feel they need. Consequently they all are willing to make almost any compromise necessary to secure what they call Christian unity. They want so-called Christianity to make an imposing appearance before the world in numerical strength. And Roman Catholics are none the less anxious than Protestants. They are the special advocates of ecumenism. They are quite willing for policy's sake to speak now of Protestants as their "separated brethren"; and their priests are quite willing to sit side by side on the platform with Protestant clergymen in religious gatherings, and even to exchange pulpits with themproviding, of course, that the higher position of prominence always be accorded to "the mother church." But in spite of all these and other efforts of self-preservation, we see Babylon rapidly disintegrating and weakening under many blows. Surely the Scriptures are right when they tell us that the waters (peoples) of the symbolic Euphrates are drying up. This we recognize in the immense numbers the world over who are withdrawing their membership in and support of her, in the decreased loyalty of very many who remain in her, in her frightful loss in wealth, influence and prestige, in the continual increase in the number, power and effectiveness of her foes, and in the numerous retreats that she makes from hard-fought battles. More and more, her enemies are threatening to overthrow and destroy her.

Well, when I saw this headline myself on The Drudge Report, I thought: well this will be seen as another fulfillment.

YET, dear brothers, for Protestants to get on board--how many more years will that take?

We grasp at every kind of "fulfillment" we can, but what about the TIMING? How wrong was THAT? This was all supposed to be over and done.

What are we lookin' at here? 50, 100, 200--500 years down the road?

Tomorrow perhaps--IF we have Faith?

SOON to come. The KOG is AT HAND. So said the Lord.

I'd like to know what he was talking about. From the scriptures, I'd like to know what in the samhill is going on--and as you know, ever objection to you is saying, pleading, begging whole-heartedly: "Sell me!" --rhonda
