MOIST, ON BEHALF OF BAND AID PROGRAM, TO PRESENT MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS TO ROSEMOUNT HIGH SCHOOL IN MONTREAL, QUEBEC
On Tuesday, January 25 at 2:15PM, Moist will pay a visit to the Rosemount High School in Montreal, Quebec. There they will make a very special presentation, on behalf of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences BAND AID program.
Montreal Rosemount High School is one of thirteen schools, one from every province and territory, to benefit from this program. With assistance from the Coalition for Music Education in Canada and the provincial music educators’ associations, the Academy solicited proposals from schools nation-wide whose band programs were in need of some help. The CARAS Music Education Committee had the difficult task of whittling the list down to the final thirteen. Once the schools were chosen and notified, they were asked to submit their shopping list and the Academy then ordered and paid for the instruments, to a maximum of $10,000 per school.
CARAS president, Daisy Falle said, It was very difficult to cull the applications down to one per province or territory. There is such a need for support out there, with school music programs falling by the wayside every day. In some schools, the instruments have been patched so often that the tonal quality is affected and it becomes difficult for the students to properly measure their own progress.
David Usher of Moist says, We are very pleased to be able to make this presentation to the students of Rosemount High. It’s so important to protect the music programs of schools in Canada and we hope these new instruments are a great help to your school.
Debbie Best, the school’s music teacher says, The music program at Rosemount High School has always strived for excellence and innovation. The grant from the CARAS’ Band Aid program has provided badly needed instruments to a group of highly-motivated young people. This has inspired them to improve their performance skills and the results are already evident. The students have a greater respect for all the instruments and themselves. For myself as a music teacher, it has allowed me to bring my students to a higher level of musicianship. We are very proud to have been chosen as the Quebec recipient and are sure to make beautiful music together with our new instruments.
This will be a very special event and we encourage you to cover it.
