Ok, hopefully you guys can help settle an argument for me. I dont have a starion (I wouldnt want one, they are old)
But theres a guy I know who has a starion. It's an '88 2.0 with intercooler.
Now, he says it has a custom manifold and 2 1/2" exhaust system with a Garrett turbo off a cossie (already I know its impossible to fit this!) custom air intake bits, aftermarket fuelling, and has turned up the boost. There are some other modifications too.
Ok, so apart from knowing he cant put a garrett turbo on a starion so already he must be lying, but he says, assuming the engine is in good nick it should be good for over 200bhp.
I reckon the best you could get out of it is 150bhp and thats even with a turbo!
Could you settle it cos I wanna win this argument and prove he's a liar.

Firstly if the engine's in good nick standard bhp was 177. My starion runs a standard turbo, 2.5" exhaust, air filter and raised boost and I've got a DYNO to prove it's 212.8bhp. Also with an adapter plate a cossie turbo can be made to fit a STOCK manifold, if he's got a custom one it could of been made to take ANY turbo he liked. If it is a cossie turbo, which is a good turbo for the starion, and he's got an after market fuelling system and other mods to, there's nothing to say the engine isn't making 250+bhp so in all your mate appears to be telling the truth and you my friend have made yourself look stupid
I suggest you look at this video and you'll see just how quick Starions can be made to go.......

That's exactly what I was in the process of writing when my laptop died. Nice one Brendan!
Oh yeah, they may be old(er) cars but they're also rare and, as someone quite rightly said the other day, they won every form of motorsport they were entered in "back in the day".

Ash- that quote was me mate
Frankie- To be honest mate the file size of the short one would be massive to put on you phone. first you'd need to download it to you PC and then you'd need to convert it to a compatible file type with your phone, all of which i don't know how to do.

Yeah, must admit,i realised after i'd posted that the original post was probably just looking for a bite!!I've had a crap week (including Starion related problems) and am pretty easy to get a bite out of at the moment. The icing on the cake came today when I found out I can't make the Goodwood festival of speed OR the Santa Pod run what ya brung due to work comitments.
Never mind, tomorrow's another day, and all that.....
I'll have to find the video but if you search youtube for Starion you will come across a Street driven 569 Rear Wheel HP MONSTER on the DYNO so its proof that it made that much power.
So 250+ HP is NOTHING for these cars they can take PLENTY more with the proper set-up.
Its a mate from Souther California.
Has T4 turbo, Multi port intake and several other goodies.
Neil Phillpotts race Starion was also running 400 bhp at the flywheel on a 8 valve head! Its now getting an EVO VIII 16v head & big turbo so im sure it will be running 500+ bhp soon
