Hi guys,

Some of your Starions are phenomenal! Loved having the chance to poke round a few at the Retro Rides show.

This is a bit of an odd request, but here goes...

Basically, I've bought myself a 1986 Mitsubishi Galant in hearing aid-beige with what can only be described as the worst interior on God's green earth. But...it's RWD, manual and clean.

The trouble is, we've got a top-secret feature coming up which involves us racing pre-'89 classics to a far-flung place, driving round said place and then driving home. Speed is of the essence.

So - I was wondering, does the Galant share the same bottom end as the Starion turbo lump? If so, how tricky would a conversion be? And where could I get parts from?

Let me know if a conversion would be at all possible or any other info on tuning that lovely 1.6 carb lump if it's not!

Thanks,

M

GALANT

August 24 2007, 4:37 PM

Hi Mat,
Th Galant did come as a 2 litre turbo option that had exactly the same engine as the Starion. However the 1.6 engine I believe is the same block - Just check to see if it has 4g63 on it?
Alternativly ask Dominic Bolton as he's the expert on Galants
follow the link to his site here
